Black soldier fly ,Hermetia illucens make the people so confuse with other wasp, because like other common flies it has two wings while wasp has four wings.
With appearance i look like wasp and having a string like tail but it just the tail it wont string that why it human friendly.during larvae stage it eats all the organic wastage food and save energy for next stage.In adult stage it only drink water that why  it wont carry any diseases.

They are mostly found  under the animal manure and organic garbage ,in natural breeding site black soldier flies lay their eggs in moist organic material. because the large amounts of organic waste left by livestock offer abundant sites that meet their reproductive needs .

when it breaks the pupal case after two days it start preparing for matting,where the female soldier fly notify it by it long tail.

The female black soldier fly can lay eggs with a rang of 500 to 1200 eggs in cracks or in decaying matter such as dung, carrion, garbage, and other organic waste.  the eggs normally hatch in four days, It size is 1mm and pale yellow or creamy white in color.

The larvae can grow up to 27mm and 6 mm in width ,they are whitish when small and move to yellow then dark brown in final, in the development stage can be approximately 14 days.

The dry weight of Black Soldier Fly larvae (BSFL) contain up to 50% crude protein (CP), up to 35% lipids and have an amino acid profile that is similar to that of fish meal. They are recognized and utilized as alternative sources of protein for feed of poultry, pigs, and several species of fish.
